Beagle, Peter S. A FINE AND PRIVATE PLACE.  London: Frederick Muller, 1960. 1st UK ed.

Top edge a little dusty, else VG-Fine in green cloth with gilt-stamped spine. F.F.e. bears the bookplate of noted Australian collector Ronald E. Graham (a co-founder of Melbourne’s Space Age Books) and, on rear of the f.f.e., the bookplate of noted collector Leigh Blackmore. The non-priceclipped dustjacket, showing original price of 18 shillings, has some light traces of foxing to top and bottom of rear fold-in, and the residue of a small removed sticker to upper right front panel, and is otherwise VG.

First Edition of Beagle’s now classic first book, a marvelous work of magic realism, written seven years before Marquez’s, One Hundred years of Solitude. Beagle is now a Grand Master award winner.
