Description

Travis Jr, Tristan. LAMIA. NY: E.P. Dutton, 1982. 1st ed.

Crime/supernatural crossover novel with a black cop investigating deaths amongst the community of male sex offenders. The story also follows Lamia, a young woman who is cursed with a serpent’s body. She must navigate a complicated world of humans and fey in order to find a cure and freedom. An eerie romp of flashbacks and dream sequences set in 1960’s Chicago. Black detective John Valjohn is complex and deftly developed. The novel is terrifying as it is satisfying.

A bit of light foxing to endpapers and spine-strip, else VG in red cloth quarterbound in white cloth with red-stamped lettering. Non-priceclipped d.j. is Fine. Gorgeous wraparound cover art by Matthew Quayle.
